What's the most you would fork out to see your favorite band live?
Last year, Tom Petty was playing here on my 16th birthday, and I was like, "It's destiny!". Then I saw how much the tickets were, and I was like, "It's not destiny!" I can't remember how much they were, but it was ungodly.
And my friend payed a fortune to see Led Zeppelin a year or two ago (whenever their last tour was).
I just don't know if it's worth it...

A Successful Function With The Right Wedding Band

Planning a wedding or other party is a huge task or a burden to anyone undertaking it. There are so many details to check out and so much planning to be done. The first step to choosing a wedding party band is getting an idea from a few of your guests of what their favourite music is. Most event organisers fail to do this and just choose something according to their own tastes.
An important thing that you should do when you are looking for a wedding band is to try to catch them performing. In general most bands typically have public gigs outside of private events so check with them on these so that you can try to take in a performance. Additionally, you may also want to ask them if they have a demo CD or preferably a video for you to take a look at. This will give you an idea of whether this band is a good fit for your wedding reception.
It is important to know, right up front, their level of expertise in playing the music required for the party. How professional are they? How long have they been together? Most bands have individual and group biographies in their written information or on their website. This will give you an idea of the professionalism of the party band as a whole.
The bands website is also a great place to find out more. Usually the website will contain photos, videos, and musical tracks. Most bands these days have a website; if they don't then beware!
If you are lucky enough to come across testimonials on the website, you will want to read through them in order to see just how much their previous customers enjoyed their music. If the repertoire of the band is listed, you will want to pay attention to that.
You will want to make sure that you are hiring a band that will appeal to the majority of the people at your reception. Try to figure out the average age of your guests and you can use that information to select just the right wedding band.
Negotiate a price with the band manager. Once you have accepted it ask for it to be put down in writing. You will then need to pay a deposit to secure your date.
As the date of the event gets closer, call the band to confirm the last minute details. If you are concerned about what they will be wearing for example, then discuss this with them. Make sure they know what time they are expected to arrive.
The band is likely to have travelled a long way to play at your event. It is only common curtesy to provide them with refreshments either when they arrive or during their performance. Lastly, be sure that you give the band a timetable of events so they know when they are playing and when they are resting.
